Important Notice

The PCR exemption for Canadians travelling less than 72 hours in the US does not apply to our ferry crossing.

Starting November 30, 2021, PCR testing is no longer required for Canadians travelling less than 72 hours in US. This only applies to travellers crossing the border by air or land. Canadian citizens and permanent residents coming back to Canada by MV Coho still are required to show the result of PCR (Molecular) testing regardless of how long they stayed in US. Canadians can still take the MV Coho to the US and come back within 72 hours through the land border to be eligible for the exemption.

Entering the United States

You will need proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Please have your vaccination card or a photo of it ready in the event you are asked to show it.

Entering Canada (Including Returning Canadians)

Please Note: A negative PCR or molecular test (not an antigen test), and filling out information on ArriveCAN is still required to enter Canada, regardless of citizenship.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: YOU MUST COMPLETELY FILL OUT ARRIVECAN BEFORE ARRIVING AT OUR FERRY TERMINAL. YOU CAN FILL OUT ARRIVECAN UP TO THREE DAYS PRIOR TO YOUR DEPARTURE.

1) A negative molecular (PCR) COVID-19 test result on a sample taken no more than 72 hours prior to arrival OR a positive molecular (PCR) COVID-19 test result on a sample taken between 14 and 180 days prior to arrival (i.e., evidence of prior infection). PCR tests must have a lab name, TIME and DATE for when the test was taken. Please confirm you have this information available to be checked prior to arriving at the ticket window. If you do not have a time stamp from the testing facility that provided your results, you must call the testing facility to request them. Travellers that have day 3 test results without a time stamp will not be allowed to board. Please Note: PCR tests that can be done within 72 hours can range from $175 - $250 USD.
2) You will need to register your travel with ArriveCAN before you travel. You will be asked to provide the following:
- The date and time of day you plan to enter Canada.
- The port of entry (please input “Victoria (Operations)” if “Victoria” is not an option).
- Travelers in your party.
- Contact information.
- Proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (this will include uploading a copy of your proof of vaccination). Please also bring your proof of vaccination for inspection by CBSA officers.
- NOTE: “Arrival” in Canada is considered to be the moment you cross the border during the ferry ride. Accordingly, to calculate “72 hours prior,” please add 45 minutes to your departure time from Port Angeles and then count back 3 days. For example, if you are scheduled to leave Port Angeles on our 8:20am sailing, you will “arrive” in Canada at 9:05am. 72 hours prior is at 9:05am three days before departure.
- A quarantine plan (Note: Although ArriveCAN requires you to input this information, as a practical matter, non-Canadian citizens denied entry will simply be able to immediately return to the United States rather than quarantine in Canada. You may simply input the Black Ball Ferry Line Victoria terminal (430 Belleville Street, Victoria, BC V8V 1W9) or a hotel that you are staying at as your quarantine location).

Please Note: You can access ArriveCAN by the following:
- ArriveCAN Website: You can access the site for free on any personal or public device, such as tablet, laptop, smartphone or desktop computer. You must print out your information and bring it with you to the terminal.
- ArriveCAN Mobile App: Use the latest version of the free ArriveCAN app. It’s available from the Google Play Store and the App Store for iPhone.

Once you submit your information, you will receive an ArriveCAN receipt. You will need to present your ArriveCAN receipt to a Canada border services officer by one of the following:
- An email confirmation
- A printout
- A screenshot
- Through ArriveCAN directly

For questions or more information about ArriveCAN, please visit their website or call them directly:
Telephone: 1-833-283-7403 (toll-free from Canada or the U.S)
Teletypewriter (TTY): 1-800-465-7735 (Canada and U.S. only)
From outside Canada or the U.S.: 613-954-8485

We look forward to welcoming you on board!
