What can Canadians returning to Canada bring back in value of goods?
After an absence of 24 hours or more - Any number of times per year, you can claim goods (except tobacco products and alcohol beverages) with a total value of $50. If the total value of all goods you bring in is more than $50, you cannot claim this exemption. Instead, you have to pay duties on the full value.
After an absence of 48 hours or more - Any number of times per year, you can claim goods (except tobacco products and alcohol beverages) with a total value of $400.
After an absence of seven days or more - Any number of times per year, you can claim goods (except tobacco products and alcohol beverages) with a total value of $750.
You may have to make a written declaration.

What can U.S. citizens returning to United States bring back in value of goods?
U.S. residents returning from Canada less than 48 hours may bring back merchandise for their use up to a value of $200 duty free, subject to limitation on liquor, cigarettes and cigars. This exemption is per person and may not be grouped together with others. If any portion of this exemption is exceeded; the entire amount is subject to duty. For those returning after 48 hours an $800 exemption per person is applicable, which may be grouped together with other family members and duty is applied to amounts exceeding $800.

Can a child under the age of 12 take the ferry without an adult?
No, children under the age of twelve will not be allowed passage unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
